Fourth International Yoga Day observed across State

GORESWAR: The 4th International Yoga Day was observed at Bengnahati Community Hall of Goreswar in Baksa district by Baksa district Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti. The jawans of Goreswar CRPF camp also celebrated the day in their camp under the leadership of Prasanta Singh, O/C of Goreswar CRPF camp.

Haflong: The International Yoga Day was celebrated at various places of Dima Hasao along with the rest of the world on Thursday. The Dima Hasao district administration centrally organised a yoga programme at Indoor stadium, N L Daulagupu sports complex in Haflong. Addressing the enthusiastic gathering of around 300 people that included students, officer goers, social workers Chief Executive Member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa said that yoga exercise is a blessing given to mankind which is gaining momentum around the globe. Dima Hasao Depuy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa in his speech highlighted various benefits of yoga and said it has become a positive influence in the lives of millions across the world.

SARUPATHAR: The 4th International Yoga Day was also observed at Sarupathar College. The event was inaugurated by the principal of Sarupathar College Siddhaswer Bora. SDO (C) Bipul Das, Border Magistrate, Pranjit kr Deb, Election Officer, Sonashree Brahma also participated in the programme. The yoga practice started at around 7am. Yoga masters Chandan Bora, Monalisa Saikia, Urmila Saikia were also present. Almost 500 students from different schools participated.

BONGAIGAON: The Chirang district administration, in collaboration with Chirang District Patanjali Yog Samiti Committee and Bharat Swabhiman Nyas, successfully observed the 4th International Day of Yoga on Thursday in the premises of UN Brahma College, Kajalgaon. About 1,000 people from all walks of life took part in the programme. The function was attended by Chirang Deputy Commissioner Ratul Baruah as chief guest and ADCs Karmadev Brahma and Sanjiv Kr. Sharma as guests of honour. Inaugurating the programme by lighting the lamp, Deputy Commissioner Baruah highlighted the importance of the yoga in present day life. He called upon the people to practice yoga for improving physical, mental, moral and spiritual well-being. Yoga instructor of District Sports Office, Bhaben Deka also spoke on the importance of practising yoga asanas and meditation. The programme started with Borgeet presented by Sanskar Bharati followed by mass yoga demonstration headed by yoga experts of Chirang District Patanjali Yog Samiti and District Sports Office. Leaflets and booklets on common protocol were made available to the participants.

TANGLA: Along with the rest of the world, the 4th International Yoga Day was observed by the 37th Bn Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Mangaldai at its Bn HQ and across all its border outposts in Indo-Bhutan border. A total of 150 personnel including officers, sub-ordinate officers, jawans and the children of nearby village of Karmipara in Darrang at its new location of Bn Hqrs took active part in the event. The event witnessed various ‘asanas and pranayama’ which were practised by the participants. Speaking on the occasion, Rohitashwa, Officer, Commandant of the battalion highlighted that yoga is not just the ancient science which keeps us healthy, but, it is the science of radiating enlightenment; the ability to manifest whatever we want.

GOHPUR: International Yoga Day was celebrated on Thursday across Assam. Under the patronage of Gohpur Civil Hospital and in collaboration with Patanjali Yogpith, Yoga Day was observed where the staff of the hospital took part. Gohpur civil administration and Patanjali Yogpith jointly organized the Yoga Day programme at the Gohpur Girls’ High School auditorium. Gohpur BJP also celebrated the International Yoga Day in the premises of BDO office Pub-Chaiduar. Biswanath district administration observed the 4th International Yoga Day in collaboration with Patanjali Yogapith Biswanath district committee in the premises of Biswanath College.

SIVASAGAR: In commemoration of International Day of Yoga, Sivasagar District Administration also celebrated Yoga Day in a befitting manner at the Open Pendal, ONGC Colony here on Thursday. More than 500 people from various walks of life along with govt. officials, students, leading citizens participated in the event. Minister of State Power (Ind), PWD (MoS) Topon Kr Gogoi inaugurated the programme and performed yoga. Taking part in the celebrations, Gogoi emphasized on the importance of the day. DPS ONGC, Nazira also celebrated the day. In this connection, a day long activities were conducted starting from the morning assembly and Inter House Yoga competition.
