Free anaemia and blood grouping test conducted at Doomni in Baksa

Baksa: A free anaemia and blood grouping test was held at Doomni in Baksa on Wednesday by Assam Centre For Rural Development (ACRD) under SBI Gram Seva, a flagship project of State Bank of India Foundation in collaboration with Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), Mushalpur under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Assam.

The free health camp was organized for the poor and backward tea garden communities who do not have access to basic healthcare facilities. A team of doctors- Dr Mayank Agarwal, Barasha Barman, Samar Sarma, Masfiqur Rahman, Kangkan Kalita and Mrinal Barman from the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), Mushalpur, conducted a series of tests such as anaemia, blood grouping, haemoglobin, blood pressure and diabetic test. More than 300 people benefitted from this camp.

“It is a very good initiative and I extend my full support to this project and the team who have been working for the last one and half year for the tea-garden communities to improve their health and overall development,” said Vikramjit Singh, Manager, Doomi Tea Estate.

Under the SBI Gram Seva project, more than 10 health camps were successfully held in the last one and half year in Baksa and over 1000 patients were examined free of cost.

The NGO organizes free health camps and sanitation awareness programmes in the remote villages of Baksa district in collaboration with the Health Department, National Rural Health Mission, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), and Shri Shankardev Netralaya, GNRC Hospital, to create awareness in the communities about health and hygiene, and seek necessary intervention.

The SBI Gram Seva is a flagship programme launched by the State Bank of India Foundation, the CSR arm of State Bank of India in 2017, across six states of India, including Assam, and focuses on integrated development of villages through Gram Panchayat, stated a press release.
