Free operation camp gets under way

MARGHERITA, January 18: A free operation camp got under way from Monday at Central Hospital, NEC Margherita. It will continue till January 22.

The camp has been organized by Vivekanda Kendra Arun Jyoti, Aruchal Pradesh and North Eastern Coalfields Coal India Limited, Margherita in association with Remote area Medical Corp, United States of America. Jugal Kishore Borah, General Mager, NECF Coal India Limited, Margherita was present today as chief guest.

Other  guests included AK Bharali, General Mager (Environment), NECF Coal India Limited, Margherita, Dr Binit Kumar Baruah, Medical Director, Vivekanda Kendra NRL Hospital Numaligarh, Dr Robin Saikia, Chief Medical Officer, Central Hospital NEC,CIL Margherita and Dr Gangadhar Maddiwar, volunteer member of Remote area Medical Corp.

Dr Robin Saikia, CMO of Central Hospital, NEC, Coal India Limited, Margherita, said in his welcome address that a total of 11 free operation camps were held at Central Hospital NEC, Coal India Limited, Margherita.  Dr Gangadhar Maddiwar, general surgeon from USA, said in his speech that Remote Area Medical Corp, USA from many years had been organizing free operation camps all over India and mainly patients from remote areas of Aruchal Pradesh had received extensive care from them.

In the five-day free operation camp, patients from greater Margherita region and remote areas from Aruchal Pradesh would be benefitted, said Dr Robin Saikia.
