Freedom fighter Ratneswar Duarah passes away

GAURISAGAR, Feb  13: Ratneswar Duarah, a noted freedom fighter, amgharia of Hatighuli, Santipar and a resident of Santipar village on the outskirts of Gaurisagar passed away on Friday at his residence due to old-age ailment.  He was 86. Duarah had actively participated in the Indian freedom movement and went to prison many times. He organized the people of greater Hatighuli area and urged them to fight against British rule unitedly. The people of the area were impressed with his leadership and simultaneously took part in the freedom movement. The demise of the freedom fighter and social worker has cast a pall of gloom in the entire Hatighuli area. Various organizations like Hatighuli and Khamukh regiol unit of AASU, Santipar Sanskritic Sanga, Santipar Krira Sangha, Santipar-Hatighuli mghar Parichala Samittee have expressed their condolence. He is survived by his wife, daughter and a host of relatives.
