Furore over rape and murder of woman

Doomdooma, May 16: A woman aged about 45 years, belonging to the tea tribe community, was allegedly raped and murdered on Monday night near Beesakopie Tea Hospital. The victim, who lived in Line No.15 of Raidang TE, was a widow and the mother of four children. She came to the hospital in connection with treatment of one of her children admitted there. After recovering her body from the spot, the police completed post-mortem. The incident infuriated the tea labourers and consequently they resorted to road blockade at Barhapjan on NH-37 from 4 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday. The blockade was lifted at the intervention of the district administration.
