Gadkari assures Purohit of visiting Assam

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who also holds the additiol charge as Governor of Meghalaya, called on Union Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari at his residence in New Delhi on Monday and took up issues related to ongoing as well pending road and highways projects in the State.

Following a detailed discussion, Gadkari told Purohit that he would be visiting Assam as soon as the Assembly elections in the five states get over. He also assured the Governor that all the ongoing projects in the State would be sped up and would be completed very soon.

It may be noted that Purohit has widely travelled the State by roads and has covered at least 24 out of total 33 districts in Assam by roads during the last six months after assuming the Gubertorial office in the State.  Lauding the interests shown by the Union Minister for his initiatives in terms roads and highway in the State, Purohit said that much more required to be done  given the present situation of roads and highways in Assam.

Shri Purohit had given a courtesy visit to the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan, later in the evening. He is likely to call on Vice President M Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister rendra Modi on Tuesday, following which. He is supposed to return to the State on Wednesday morning.
