GAF supports ‘Operation Clean Drive’

Our correspondent
Itanagar, May 14: Expressing support to the ‘Operation Clean Drive’ launched by the All Tawang District Students’ Union (ATDSU) to check illegal settlers and refugees in Tawang district, the Green Arunachal Foundation (GAF) has urged the student unions of every district of the State to follow the ATDSU’s lead.

Informing that the ATDSU has launched the campaign to collect proper data on Tibetan refugees settled in Tawang and verify their “genealogical tree”, the GAF urged the Tawang administration and the State government to check rampant encroachment on government land by Tibetan refugees, residing in Tawang on the strength of false APST certificates.

The GAF also urged the district administrations to reissue strict instructions to the goan burahs of the respective districts to ensure proper verification before clearing suspicious applicants for APST certificates.
“It cannot be ruled out that some of these Tibetan refugees might be passing security-related information to China. Therefore the issue must be taken precariously,” the GAF stated in a release.
