Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated with fervour

Guwahati, Jan 31: Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with much fanfare and religious fervour at different places of the city along with rest of the State.
The Ganesh temples in different parts of the city including Ganeshguri, Latashil, Khapara, Lankeswar and Hatisila witnessed long queues of the devotees, who came to offer puja and seek his blessings for better health and prosperity and also for removing obstacles of life.  The city was also enveloped in festive spirit, especially around the Ganesh temples of 9th Mile, Latasil, Ganeshguri, Sarania Hills and other temples including Kamakhya and Sukreswar. Most of the temples have organized various programmes like gara am competition, to celebrate the festival in a grand way.  Festive atmosphere prevailed around Latasil and Ganeshguri temples as well where a large number of devotees gathered for the darshan. To cater to the needs of the faithful devotees, a number of flower and puja item shops were set up along the Latasil playground. Devotees lit earthen lamps and incense sticks to please the deity and offered flowers and sweets. Ganesh puja was also observed in different localities where colourful pandals were set up and clay idols of Gapati were installed and worshipped followed by distribution of prasad.
