Ganja, cough syrup seized at Batadrava

Batadrava, Feb 25: In a joint operation conducted by gaon Police and Batadrava Police on Friday night, more than 14 kg of ganja, with a market value of around Rs 1,50,000, 15 cough syrup bottles, 115  capsules and tablets of sedative drugs were seized from two houses. Two women were arrested in this connection. The arrested women have been identified as Sufiya Khatun and Safiya Khatun of Rampur Xatra.  According to sources, acting on a tip-off, the police team led by Sanjib Kumar Saikia, Additiol Superintendent of Police, raided two houses at Rampur Xatra, Batadrava and recovered the large quantity of ganja, cough syrup with tablets. The two women and their families were associated with this illicit trade for years, sources added. Two cases had been registered ( 38/17, 39/17) under Section of 20(b), 21(c), 22(c) of NDPS Act. Meanwhile, the arrested women were produced in the gaon Court and remanded to judicial custody.
