Gautam Sarma Memorial Gate iugurated

GUWAHATI, June 4: To houour the valour of late Capt Gautam Sarma of 8 JAK LI, a ‘Memorial Gate’ was iugurated at Bishwath Chariali on 9th Martyrs Day function on Friday. The memorial has been constructed on the land doted by the Martyrs parents. The function was held with full military honours in presence of numerous military and civil dignitaries including the DC, Pallav Jha. A large number of local people were also present during the iuguration ceremony. The memorial will go long way in keeping alive the memories of the supreme sacrifice made by the armed forces personnel in the true tradition and ethos of the Indian Army. Late Capt Gautam Sarma laid down his life in the service of the tion on June 3, 2007 while serving in the Ustad Sub Sector in Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated in a press release.
