Gelatin sticks, detotors recovered

SILCHAR, May 15: A cache of gelatin sticks and detotors have been found in a cruiser that was coming from Jiribam towards Silchar at Lakhipur at around 5 pm on May 13. Jyoti Ranjan th, sub-divisiol police officer, 27 Assam Rifles along with his team was checking vehicles on tiol Highway 37, Phulertol area, at Phulertol point. Upon searching they found packets of around 1 kg which contained 5 gelatine sticks and 2 detotors. The cruiser, AS-11 AC 2813 was in a running state as it was heading towards Silchar and so they failed to catch other passengers. Two drivers of the cruiser, zrul Laskar, 28, of ndapur Village, Soi police station and Mofiz Uddin, 27, Baskanndie, Lakhipur police station, have been taken into custody for further investigation. The two accused will be presented before the Court. It is the first time that such bomb accessories have been found and so the people of the area are worried about the finding of these dangerous items. Gelignite or gelatin sticks are also known as blasting gelatin or simply jelly and it is used in explosive materials. It is a colourless, heavy, sticky explosive liquid.
