Gird up loins: BJYM president to workers

SILCHAR: “It is not important who is our candidate. The important thing is to gird up our loins and take the battle to the home turf of the Opposition and turn the tables in our favour,” pointed out Anup Barman, Assam Pradesh Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president, while addressing a meeting at the District Library here on Saturday. BJYM leaders and workers of all ranks along with the leaders from the three districts of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi turned up for the show of strength just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Calling the Yuva Morcha workers as the elixir of the party, Barman said, “On you, all depends the very fate of the party across the country and that vests you with the onerous responsibility to charter out the course of action for positive outcome.”

“It is time to whip up the campaign from the grassroot levels by making door to door campaign. From the gaon panchayat to mandal and ward stage, Yuva Morcha workers should fan out in all directions, meet all sections of people and explain to them the achievements of the NDA government. The voters have to be wooed by pointing out the difference in governance of UPA and NDA and also of the Tarun Gogoi regime and Sarbananda Sonowal”, he said.

Congress Slamming the Congress, Barman said, “The Congress ruled for 60 years at the Centre and the State of Assam. The BJP-led front of Sarbananda Sonowal has been in power for nearly 30 months. The Narendra Modi government completed 5 years. The glaring contrast is for all to see. Unlike the UPA and Gogoi Raj, there have been no scams and scandals under NDA and BJP-led front at Dispur and Barak Valley stands witness to the surge of developments.”

The Yuva Morcha president exhorted both the leaders and workers to shed off inertia and jump into the action arena before it is too late. “The Chief Minister’s concern for the valley is open and not cosmetic. He has visited 17 times to eliminate the notion of discrimination. In one go, the people have seen how he inaugurated the Barak bridge and initiated 5 other projects. Voters have to be told about the packages of development in the process,” he said.

It was like a brainstorming session for the BJYM workers. How far they have been spruced up, time alone will tell. Others present on the dais included Kabindra Purkayastha, Kausik Rai, president, district committee, Nitya Bhushan Dey, organizing secretary, Biswaroop Bhattacharjee, BJYM State vice president and frontline Morcha leaders from Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi.
