Girl dies of snake bite at Sarupeta in Barpeta district

PATHSALA: A 22-year-old college girl died after she was bitten by a poisonous snake at her residence on Monday at Sarupeta in Barpeta district.

The victim, identified as Nabanita Baro, was a daughter of Rabendra Baro and Nageswari Baro and a resident of Sarupeta area in Barpeta district. Nabanita studied in Bajali College in Pathsala. She was a student of MA 3rd semester in Assamese subject. As per information, the incident occurred when she was working in the kitchen and a cobra bit her on her leg.

The family member of the girl immediately bought her to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College at Barpeta but due to her serious condition, the doctor referred her to the Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon. She was taken to the ICU but doctors there declared her brought dead on August 8.
