Gloomy Scenerio

Very often we view and read about the dilapidated condition of roads and bridges in the electronic and print media. It pains us to note that even after 70 years of our Independence, the sad state of affairs in surface transport communication remains the same. Pretty long years of Congress rule could do pretty little to improve the condition due to sheer corruption. The BJP alliance was enthroned eventually, which talks of parivartan but reality speaks otherwise.

Due to the initiative of our dynamic Prime Minister, India registered significant progress in many fields as far as surface communication in particular is concerned. Now bullet train in collaboration with Japan is all set to take off, and preparation is on in respect of underwater route in the Indian Ocean connecting Ahmedabad to Mumbai. Then what ails our BJP  leaders who won elections harping on the string of parivartan? What about the  much-hyped dredgers that were supposed to be brought to dig the Brahmaputra  to  mitigate the suffering of those who are perennially affected and devastated by floods?   Why could embankments be not completed within the timeframe stipulated  by the Chief  Minister? Why could not the Water Resource Development Minister get the construction  of embankments done on time? Is the unholy engineer-contractor nexus  still active?
Instead of getting embroiled in certain redundant sensitive issues, the  State  BJP should  do well to focus its attention on people’s welfare. The State BJP leaders should not take everything for granted. About health sector, the less said the better.
