Gogoi has no moral right to criticize government: BJP

GUWAHATI, Jan 31: The Assam State BJP on Tuesday came down heavily on former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi saying that Gogoi has no moral right to criticize BJP government. BJP spokespersons Rupam Goswami, Subhash Dutta and Dileep Saikia in a statement said that during the 15-year-rule of Congress government, the administration was almost collapsed due to large scale corruption took place in various departments of the governmnet.

They said that crores of rupees were released from treasury in the me of implementing different schemes flouting all rules of the Fince department.

“Due to such anomalies, the then Gogoi government could not submit expenditure details of Rs 12 thousand crore to the Central government, which was sanctioned for implementation of various schemes. CAG report has revealed all these very clearly,” they said.

The BJP spokespersons said that Gogoi cannot escape responsibility from such gross anomalies.  “Gogoi completely failed to curb corruption of his government as a result of which the new government has to bear the burden of 15 thousand crore debt.  Due to this, state government is facing problems in carrying out development works,” they said.

They further claimed that many liquor barons in the state evaded tax during the rule of Gogoi government.  “Our government has stopped such misconduct. The former Chief Minister has exposed his own failure by unnecessarily criticizing Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma,” said the BJP spokespersons.  They said that during the first year of Gogoi government’s rule in 2011-12, Rs 50 lakh each were sanctioned to constituencies for improvement of roads but during the eight months of the BJP government, Rs 9 crore each have been released for repair and improvement of roads in each constituency.   They said that former Chief Minister Gogoi intentiolly trying to defame the BJP government in the State.
