Gogoi iugurates newly formed Hojai district

HOJAI, Feb 20: Hojai became the 28th district of Assam as the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi officially declared the district amidst jubilation at an iuguration function on Friday at the Kachhary Maidan in Sankardev gar here.  The iugural function was attended by   Minister Rokibul Hussain, former ministers Gautam Bora and Ardhendu Kr Dey, gaon DC, Commissioner of central Assam division and other top officials.  Gogoi received thunderous applauses from the thousands of people who gathered on the occasion. People from all corners of the district thronged to the venue of celebration to express their happiness over the fulfillment of long standing demand for district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that his government created seven new districts in one time to bring the administration to peoples’ doorstep and it is a history in India as no other government ever made so many districts in one time as his government made.

Gogoi also did not miss the opportunity to criticize the BJP and especially Hemanta Biswa Sarma for opposing the creation of new districts and sub divisions in the state.  Hojai district has been created after being carved out from the gaon district and it comprises three legislative constituencies—Hojai, Lumding and Jammumukh.
