GoI nodal officers discuss action plan under GSA II

Hailakandi, June 13: A four-member team of nodal officers from different ministries, Government of India (GoI) arrived in Hailakandi town on Tuesday to discuss the action plan with the officials of the district administration and heads of departments concerned on the implementation of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA) II. Buoyed by the success of GSA I in 11 identified villages, the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India has now decided to cover 247 villages having population of more than 1,000 under extended GSA in Hailakandi district.

Cent per cent saturation has to be achieved in seven pro-poor schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Prime Minister’s Suraksha Bima Yojana, Prime Minister’s Ujjwala Yojana, Prime Minister’s Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Prime Minister’s Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya), Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All (UJALA) and Mission Indradhanush by August 15 next.

The nodal officers held marathon discussions with the Joint Director, Health Services and District Immunization Officer on Mission Indradhanush and with officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and IOCL on Prime Minister’s Ujjwala Yojana, Lead Bank Manager and Branch Managers on Financial Inclusion Schemes and with General Manager, Chief Executive Officer, Badarpur and Assistant General Manager, APDCL and SDE on Saubhagya and UJALA schemes. Circle Officers and Block Development Officers were also present.

The GoI team discussed the action plan for implementation of the pro-poor schemes under GSA II in the identified villages. Hailakandi has 331 villages and 62 Gaon Panchayats. The GoI team consists of Akhil Saxena, Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, GP Samanta, Under Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, among others.
