Golden jubilee celebration begins

SHILLONG, April 30: All Saints’ Diocesan Higher Secondary School, one of the premiere institutes in the city celebrated its golden jubilee celebration here on Saturday.

The melodious voices and song performances by the students of the school enthralled the function which was also attended by the past pupils of the school coming from the different parts of the country and abroad.

Established on October 8, 1967, the school presently has an enrollment of about 1500 students and is recognized by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) in the year 1984 and upgraded to higher secondary section (Arts & Commerce) in 2008. Home Minister Roshan Warjri in her speech as a chief guest lauded the school for its contribution towards academic excellence and its focus on other activities to prepare minds of students for a practical future and by utilizing their talents. Encouraging young minds to think out of the box, she said “We need young people who can question the world around and take up the challenge of being leaders with a difference.”

“Students should dare to dream big and be change makers and role models in different walks of life and contribute to the economic growth and development of not only the state but the country as a whole,” she added.

Prizes distribution to the winners of the run organized in the morning as a mark of opening of the golden jubilee celebration also marked the day.
