Gos Bihu celebration

Gohpur, April 17: Every year Gos Bihu festival begins at Dubia Gos Bihu Bakari under Gohpur subdivision on the fourth day of the Assamese new year Bohag and continues till World Environment Day.

On the occasion of this festive period, environmental preservation organization Amar Banani will start Gos Bihu events in collaboration with the people of Dubia at Gos Bihu bakari on Wednesday. Gos Bihu has been celebrated since 1996 in Gohpur by Amar Banani.

Gos Bihu is observed in various places of Assam and the Northeast in this festive period. Gos Bihu mela will conclude in Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on June 5. In 1996, Tree Man of India, Bakul Gogoi started the unique initiative to create awareness regarding tree plantation in Assam and the Northeast. Forest Man Jadav Payeng will take part in the event.
