Government caught on wrong foot

Government caught on wrong foot

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, April 27: Referring to the statement made by the 15th Finance Commission delegates in the recently concluded meeting in Guwahati, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the deletion of Assam from the special status category of States has become quite clear. Gogoi also mocked at the argument of Himanta Biswa Sarma claiming that Assam still enjoys special status.

The former Chief Minister also reacted to the recent expansion and reshuffle of the Sonowal Ministry. He said that the restructure of the Ministry has wiped out the hope of the common people of the State, causing mass agitation on party lines and communities to brew up. He said that despite the much hyped slogan of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikash’, the recent expansion and reshuffle has brought to the fore the negligence and deprivation of many by the BJP-led Government.

Commenting categorically on Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gogoi asserted that the Minister has skipped off the Education Department just only to conceal his failure. Presently, he is eying the lucrative Public Works Department.
