Government exploring means to develop NE: Rijiju

ITAGAR, May 25: “Sanctioning funds for developmental activities is not an issue as the central government is adopting all possible ways to develop the North East region,” according to Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju. The union minister’s assertion came on Tuesday during his visit to the fire accident site at Seppa in East Kameng district where he took stock of the situation. Enquiring about the actual cause of the incident and number of families affected due to the fire mishap, Rijiju informed that he had already discussed the matter with the chief minister and has requested him to provide all necessary assistance, an official report informed here today. He also assured to extend necessary support in reconstruction and rehabilitation on the occasion, a press release informed. The union minister further instructed the district administration to organize more awareness programmes in this aspect and after noticing the compact human settlement in some pockets of the township, he opined that there is a necessity to frame colony-wise resettlement plan.

Further assuring that he would always be there for the development of the region, Rijiju informed that his party is pro-poor and pro-development. Rijiju also enquired about the construction work at Government Model College, Seppa and other developmental activities being taken in the district, the report added.
