Governor asks officials to reach out to people for development

Kokrajhar, May 24: Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday visited Chirang district and held meeting with the security agencies and district administration to take stock of the present law-and-order situation in the district, in the conference hall of the DC’s office. On his arrival at the district headquarter, the Governor was accorded traditional reception led by the BTC Principal Secretary Biren Chandra Phukan.

He also met with the district heads of the departments to review the State and Central government schemes being implemented by various departments, including Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. During the meeting, he said that whatever amount of fund had been received for developmental activities must be utilized with transparency and accountability. He called upon the officials to implement every scheme intelligently with personal involvement. He said that officials must reach out to the public and facilitate them in availing government schemes. He asked Agriculture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Irrigation, Fishery, Soil Conservation and Veterinary departments to jointly work to increase agriculture production in order to double income of the farmers. The Governor also stressed speedy and proper implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Mudra Yojana.

Continuing his practice to visiting government offices, healthcare facilities and educational institutions for having first-hand knowledge of the basic amenities in the district, the Governor visited District Centre, JSB Civil Hospital and BGR HS School, Dhaligaon. Interacting with students, he asked them to focus on academics with interest in extra-curricular activities.

Later, he gave a patient hearing to the problems and grievances of various political and non-political organizations like BPF, Shiv Sena, BJP, UPP (L), ABSU, BSU, AKRSU, ABMSU, AAMSU, AABYSF, AASA, AASU and assured to address their problems. The Governor also had discussion with the media.
