Governor calls upon students to practise strong moral character

Guwahati, Feb 2:  “Simple living and a strong moral character should be the base of every student,” said Assam Governor Shri Banwarilal Purohit at a prize distribution ceremony in Quizitive 2017 organized by PRER at Royal Group of Institutions, Betkuchi in Guwahati today.

Speaking on the occasion Purohit called upon the students to lead a simple yet disciplined life with highest mission and vision to achieve noble endeavours in life. He also advised them to develop spirit like a sports man which according to him would help them to march forward in spite of all challenges.  He also called upon the students to emulate the lives and works of Ernest Hemingway, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and make them their role models.

Governor Purohit while encouraging the students for having strong determition, will power and dedication, referred to the lives of Father of the tion Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and Iswar Chandra Vidya Sagar who by dint of their sheer diligence and dedication reached the zenith of success. Shri Governor pointed out that simplicity, sensibility and hard work had made both Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri a great humanist. The Governor also advised the students to select good friends because success and failures are dependent on quality of friends one keeps.  Purohit also spoke on transparency and how transparency helps a person in his professiol and persol life. He also called upon the dignitaries present on the occasion to practice highest degree of ethics and professiolism to bring in revolution in their respective fields.     

With an attempt to provide exposure and encouragement to students belonging to all sections of society PRER, IAS Officers’ Wives Association as a part of its socio –cultural activity organised All Guwahati Inter-School Quiz Competition-Quizitive 2017 on the topic “The World-Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ amongst students of Class 8 to 12 from both English as well as Assamese medium schools of Guwahati today. The Governor lauded the efforts of the team PRER and wished success in its endeavours.

The Governor also released the souvenir “Reflections” in the presence of the Chief Secretary V.K.Pipersenia, Commissioner and Secretary Secondary Education and Tourism Ramesh Jain, President of PRER Suman Pipersenia, Editor of the souvenir Elsa Eapen, Secretary of PRER Smt Amika Tiwari and a host of others.
