Governor, CM greet people on Rongali Bihu

Guwahati, April 13: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal greeted the people of Assam on the occasion of Rongali Bihu and the Assamese New Year.

Conveying his warm greetings, Prof. Mukhi said, “Let this Bihu which marks the advent of Assamese New Year be a harbinger of a new dawn of warm and harmonious relationship and peace, prosperity and progress in the State”.

Extending his greetings, Sonowal wished may Rongali Bihu be the precursor of peace, prosperity and progress throughout the State.     In a statement, Sonowal said:  “Assam is a land where people representing all caste, creed, and community live in absolute harmony. Since time immemorial people of all sections have been living in the state upholding the tenets of peace, prosperity and mutual co-existence”. He also said that Bihu is a festival which constitutes the life line of the people of Assam and the crux of the composite culture of Assam.

Former State Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, AGP president and Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora, CLP leader Debabrata Saikia, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass, Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, MP Biswajit Daimary, the AASU, AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal and others greeted the people of the State a happy Rongali Bihu.
