Governor Jagdish Mukhi Interacts With National Integration Contingent

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi interacted with a team of fifty students from the border Districts of Nagaland at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and asked them to imbibe ‘oneness’ to strengthen the country.

Governor Prof Mukhi while interacting with the students said that North East is a treasure trove of natural beauties and resources and is exemplifying the great diversities which is the hallmark of India. He, therefore, urged upon the contingent to imbibe the values of universal brotherhood to strengthen the bond friendship and camaraderie among themselves. He also said that North East is strategically poised and is set to be hub of all activities in view of the Centre’s Act East Policy. In such a backdrop, Prof Mukhi appealed to the students to be the ambassadors of peace and universal brotherhood.

Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi also said that India’s North East is blessed with the rare capacity and opportunity of demography and demand and asked the students to be a force multiplier in harnessing these opportunities to transform the region into a New Engine of Growth. He also asked them to take resolute actions for ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

According to a press release, the students who have come under ‘Bharat Darshan Yatra, 2019’ programme spoke about their experiences on coming to Guwahati. They also said that they were delighted to visit Guwahati which is their first experience to visit any place outside Nagaland. The Governor enquired about National Integration tour and he asked the students to use such tours to enhance their leadership skills and make them competent to face challenges of life. He also said that visiting different places gives them practical experience which they will remember in the rest of their lives. He also asked them to interact with other students of different states which will promote the feeling of nationalism and thereby create a sense of belongingness.

It may be mentioned that the students are on the tour to visit the places of historical importance and socio-cultural monuments in the State of Assam, particularly Guwahati from 19th to 21st March. Organized by Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar, a registered socio-cultural organization the tour has been organized to promote patriotism and nationalism amongst people living in the international border areas of the entire North East region of the country.
