Governor recalls Kushal Konwar, releases book

Guwahati, June 15: Governor of the state Prof Jagdish Mukhi paid rich tributes at the portrait of Swahid Kushal Konwar on the occasion of the martyr’s 75 death anniversary today. The Governor also released a book titled Kushal Konwar (a complete drama) authored by Bhupen Goswami at a function held in Banti Kanta Kakoti Hall in Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.

“Swahid Kushal Konwar, who dedicated himself in the country’s freedom struggle and sacrificed his life, needs highest degree of obeisance from everybody. So, today on the occasion of the freedom fighter’s 75th death anniversary, I offer my heartfelt tributes to the unflinching spirit of Kushal Konwar and his love for the nation,” Mukhi said.

The Governor stressed that the contributions of the martyr towards the country should be taught to the upcoming generation. He also said that programmes and activities should be conducted at schools and colleges where the students get to know the sacrifices made by the great soul for the cause of the nation. Messages about the patriots should be communicated to the youth so as to enable them to realise the supreme sacrifices that were inherent in country freedom.

The Governor also acknowledged the role of Bhupendra Kumar Goswami for bringing out a book on Kushal Konwar and hoped that the book would go a long way in taking Kushal Konwar and his tale of patriotism to every nook and corner of the country. Present on the occasion Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma also spoke on the contributions made by Kushal Konwor for the sake of the motherland.
