Our correspondent
Itanagar June 14: Alleging of unchecked corruption practice in the State by political leaders, bureaucrats, technocrats, the Arunachal Anti-Corruption Sena- Anna Samarthak (AACS-AS) in a memorandum has called for the Governor’s intervention into the matter.
Claiming that political leaders, bureaucrats and technocrats openly involved in corruption activities, the Sena, in a memorandum to the Governor, said it’s high time that the source of income of legislators, technocrats and bureaucrats are surveyed, recorded and they should be held accountable for misgovernance. Stating that the SIC (Vigilance), Itanagar has 56 pending corruption cases and inquiry of 60 cases has been completed as on January 24, 2018, the Sena, however, claimed that till date not a single case has been moved for prosecution.
Inaction on the part of government against corrupt politicians and officers and the absence of State Prosecution Directorate to take forward the cases is encouraging many to practice corruption, it stated and pressed for establishment of Prosecution Directorate in the State and expedite the pending inquiries.
Taking serious note of appointments in government departments without framing of recruitment rules, the Sena sought the Governor’s intervention for complete banning of contract appointments and recruitments without competitive exams.
While drawing his attention towards alleged misuse of funds under SADA, SIDF on unrealistic projects, the Sena appealed the Governor to persuade the Government for good governance in the State.
In a separate memorandum to the Governor, the Sena called for appointment of competent and well-qualified person as chairman-cum-managing director of Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Ltd as the incumbent is a politically appointed person without fulfilling any laid down criteria to become the CMD.
