Grenade Blast near 'Guwahati Central' in Zoo Road, Eight Reported Injured

Guwahati: Grenade Blast near new 'Guwahati Central' Mall in Zoo Road in Guwahati. At least eight people were reported injured during the incident.

Two SSB constables received severe injuries during the incident and were rushed to a nearby Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for further medical assistance in critical condition.

Police kept on high-alert.

As per eyewitnesses, two motorcycle-borne men hurled the suspected grenade at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and police personnel who were on duty near the shopping mall.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a probe in connection to the incident and directed the Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia to take appropriate and immediate action against the perpetrators.

Update: The injured SSB constables were jawan Amulya Lal and Ramesh Lal. The other injured are Fardin Rahman, Ahmed Kumar, Amit Khasar, Riya Khasar, Hirakjyoti Baruah and Kalyan Baishya.

Militant Rebel Group ULFA-I reportedly claimed for the attack.
