Guwahati Bomb Blast: Accused sent to 10-days Police Remand, charged with Sedition

Guwahati: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Kamrup Metro on Friday sent both the suspected accused of Guwahati Bomb Blast incident to 10 days police remand.

Public Prosecutor, Bhaskar Dev Konwar also informed that the court had directed the Assam police to conduct medical tests of both the suspects namely Pranamoy Rajguru and Janabee Saikia after every 48 hours during the 10 days police remand.

Relatives and family members of the accused can also visit the suspected accused within this period, Bhaskar Dev Konwar stated further.

They will be again produced before the CJM Court on May 27, 2019.

Meanwhile, two cases were registered against Pranamoy Rajguru and Janabee Saikia at Geetanagar Police station Case No 210/19 under section 325/326/307 of the Indian Penal Code, R/W section 3/5 ES Act and R/W section 10/13/16/20 UA (P) Act.

Also, another case was lodged at Satgaon Police Station Case No 147/19 under section 121, 121(A), 122 of the Indian Penal Code and 125 1(b) Arms Act.

It is to be noted that the duo was arrested on Thursday from Namghar Path in Panjabari locality of Guwahati, Assam during a search operation carried out by a team of city police and crime branch in relation to the grenade blast at Guwahati’s Zoo Road.

Police also recovered one 9mm pistol along with 25 live ammunition, one ULFA-I notepad and one scooty bearing registration number AS 01 DQ 4420 from the spot.

Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also ordered a probe and directed Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia to conduct a thorough investigation in the matter.
