Guwahati to face Bongaigaon in final of Nuruddin trophy

GUWAHATI,  April 23: Guwahati will face Bongaigaon in the final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket Championship which will be held at the Barsapara Cricket stadium here from April 25. Guwahati entered into the final by virtue of the ‘record’ 767 runs victory over Nagaon. Bongaigaon booked the final berth defeating Silchar by toss after the first two-day of the game washed out because of rain.
It was Rahul Hazarika who hogged the limelight on the last day of the semi final between Guwahati and Nagaon. The batsman played a superb knock and scored a double century today. Rahul altogether faced 301 balls in the second innings and scored 219 with the help of 17 boundaries and three sixes. Rode on Rahul’s double century Guwahati today declared their second innings 460/9. Later chasing 826 runs to win Nagaon bowled out paltry 58 runs in the second innings.
Meanwhile the second semi final, held at Mangaldoi, Silchar bowed out from the competition losing the tie via toss. The first two-day of the game was completely washed out because of rain. However the weather was good today and the match was also started. Silchar, invited to bat, were bowled out 219 in the first innigs. Bongaigaon were 47/1 in their first innings when the match came to an end. Later the fate of the match was decided via coin and luck favoured Bongaigaon.
