Guwahati Witnesses Global Protest by Animal Lovers on Avni’s Brutal Killing

Guwahati: A global protest, by the animal lovers all over the world, was held on Sunday, November 11, 2018. The protest rally, at the same time, was observed in 25 cities in India and 10 cities across the globe. The protest with all animal lovers joining hands is against the brutal killing the young tigress Avni in Maharashtra who also had two cubs and the matter of safety and survival of the two little cubs is all the more an important matter at the moment.

The protest mainly is due to this reason that the killing of the tigress was inhumane and against the order passed by the Supreme Court. The SC had ordered to first secure the 11-month-old cubs of the tigress and then tranquillize her for rehabilitation. But going against the rules, a private contracted hunter was hired to kill her and this has also come into light that tranquilization was not even attempted on her. This very issue has angered all animal lovers and activists.

The overwhelming support received by the protest against Avni’s killing has put more weight into the matter. As a matter of a fact, eminent personalities in veterinary science, politics, celebrities and most importantly the common man, all are coming out of their home to make sure that such inhumane acts are never repeated on any other innocent animal and no such instance is set in the future.
