Haflong, July 22: Despite numerous problems, Haflong Civil Hospital, the only referral hospital of the district of Dima Hasao, has been successful to some extent in providing health care services to masses with the active cooperation of the doctors, staff and others, claimed Superintendent of Haflong Civil Hospital, Dr Kalpa Kemprai on Saturday.
In an exclusive interview, Dr Kemprai said, “Though the present capacity of the hospital is only 100 beds, we have maged to provide 136 beds right now. But the lack of rooms cause inconvenience. A building has been constructed but not handed over to us. Once the building is handed over to us, there will be no problem for accommodation at least. New medical services are being introduced and for these there should have been more staff, doctors and technicians, which we lack.” “Lack of proper communication is also a big problem, the district being hilly and the condition of roads is not good. Our people very often face difficulties to reach far-flung village in the time of need. There have been other routine services covering the whole of district but due to lack of communication, sometimes our people face untold inconveniences. The HCH has only one ambulance right now. We need more ambulances,” she added.
