HOWRAGHAT, March 21: Election campaign has started to warm up in Karbi Anglong. To defeat the Congress, campaign has been intensified by the BJP and BPF alliance in the hill district of Karbi Anglong.

To campaign for BJP candidate Sum Ronghang, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, Rajya Sabha MP, Biswajit Daimary and BJP election campaigning convener, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday participated in the big rally held at Langhin Tiniali under 19-Diphu (ST) Legislative Assembly constituency. While addressing the rally, Hagrama Mohilary attacked and criticized the ruling Congress government. Mohilary alleged Congress of betraying the BPF and said the Congress would suffer the consequences in the upcoming assembly elections. He reiterated that BPF supported Congress thrice but in the end they later pulled out their support because of the Congress’ betrayal of the common people.

The BTC chief alleged that the funds of different schemes sanctioned for the poor people was misappropriated and used as funds for the political interest of the Congress. He confidently said that BJP would form the next government in the State and BPF was supporting BJP only to fulfil the issues that were pending during the Congress regime.

In his speech, the BJP leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that BPF would play an important role in the next government and important departments would be given to BPF MLAs. Slamming the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government, Dr Sarma said that BPF supported Congress in the need of hour but after getting absolute majority, BPF was dishonored by the Congress. People now will have to be united to oust the family-centric Congress party, Sarma added.

While attacking the AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal, Dr Sarma urged voters not to support AIUDF in the ensuing assembly election in order to safeguard the indigenous people of Assam. Dr Sarma said that Ajmal would never be allowed to be Chief Minister of Assam. Hence, BJP is allying with the indigenous tribal political parties of Assam and regiol AGP party. Meanwhile, he urged people to vote for BJP candidates Sum Ronghang and Joyram Engleng from Diphu and Howraghat seats in the forthcoming assembly election. The rally was also addressed by Rajya Sabha MP, Biswajit Daimary, BJP candidates of Diphu and Howraghat constituencies, Sum Ronghang and Joyram Engleng.
