Hailstorm lashes State, 11 injured in lightning strike

GOLAGHAT/TAMULPUR, Jan 9: An upper air circulation brought on by western disturbance caused hailstorm at different parts of the State today. 11 people were seriously injured due to lighting strike at Fehuajhar village under Tamulpur police station in Baksa district.  The injured persons have been admitted to Tamulpur PHC. As per initial reports, hailstorm was also reported from Golaghat, Jorhat, lbari and Morigaon.  Following hailstorm, temperatures dipped in Assam today. Coin-sized hails fell for a long time in many areas of the state. Strong winds uprooted trees and electric poles as a result of which power supply was disrupted at various places.
