Halt construction of Gurudwara at Lewmawlong, Pyniaid Singh tells KHADC

SHILLONG, June 21: Pyniaid Singh Syiem, MDC Mawryngknen constituency has urged the KHADC executive committee to immediately halt the illegal construction of the Gurudwara at Lewmawlong (Them Motor), which falls under the jurisdiction of Hima Mylliem.

According to the resolution moved by Pyniaid here on the second day of the KHADC summer session, the illegal construction of the Gurudwara at Lewmawlong which did not get any approval nor NOC of the KHADC, should be immediately stop on grounds that it has cause extreme congestion and can otherwise be used to create employment opportunities to several locals street hawkers, who are being harassed from time to time during eviction etc.

He also said that this place can bring about many developments in terms of providing jobs and expanding the market place for locals and by using the fincial support from the central scheme sanctioned to the council.

“I urged the EC to direct the Syiem of Hima Mylliem and call him for a meeting in this regard and to query about the documents, because there are many non tribal settlers in this area who also have the land documents which is illegal and also attract the Land Transfer Act,” Pyniaid said adding that the EC should also direct the Syiem of Hima Mylliem to immediately seized these land documents including the NOC for the illegal construction.

In support of the resolution move by Pyniaid , Mylliem MDC TS Thangkiew however asked the EC to carry out an immediate spot inspection with the state government, Syiem of Hima Mylliem so as to check and verify all the documents of this illegal construction.

She also suggested that this place can be used by the council for construction of the Urban Market complex which will help to generate revenue.

Meanwhile CEM KHADC PN Syiem has expressed concern and urgency to deal with the issue relating to this illegal construction of Gurudwara at lewmawlong (Them Motor), which falls under the jurisdiction of Hima Mylliem.

He also assured that this matter will be look at the earliest.
