Hardcore Woman NDFB(S) Cadre apprehended in Chirang

Chirang: Based on an intelligence report about induction of one hardcore women cadre of NDFB(S) in Chirang District, just 4 days prior to the Phase-III Lok Sabha election scheduled in the area on April 23, 2019, a joint operation was launched by Army and Chirang police on April 19, 2019, and apprehended one hardcore terrorist of NDFB(S), in Village: Bamungaon, Police Station: Sidli of Chirang district.

During the last two weeks leading to upcoming elections, Army and Chirang police had established multiple ‘ Mobile vehicle check posts’ and Nakas as means of prophylactic security cover to prevent any nefarious activity by terrorists.

On April 19, 2019 during one such check, a suspected individual was observed.

The suspect was challenged, however, the women started running and were nabbed with the help of women police present on site. The women were identified as Lance Corporal (Self Styled) Sagorika Basumatary alias B Sujuma of NDFB(S).

Frisking and search of the cadre led to the recovery of one pistol (factory made) and live rounds from her possession.

Lance corporal (Self Styled) Sagorika Basumatary is a hardcore NDFB(S) terrorist. She had obtained training with the 42nd batch in Myanmar.

The terrorist was sent to Chirang, before Lok Sabha election, to carry out nefarious activities. However, the constant vigil and area domination by Army and Chirang police has made such attempts futile.
