Hare Krishna Movement kicks off ‘Pure for Cure’ initiative

Guwahati, June 2: To fulfill the vision conceptualized by spiritual master AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, founder Acharya of Worldwide Hare Krishna Movement, the followers of the movement have launched the “Pure for Cure” initiative in which they serve hot and nutritious meal to the underprivileged families across the Guwahati city. The Acharya focused on the vision, “No one should go to hungry upto 10 km radius of our temple.”

In a release, the members of the Movement said that the meal is prepared with full cleanliness maintaining hygienic and is sanctified. It is served in vessels which retains the temperature of the food till 8 hours. The Movement serves food in government hospitals, schools, orphanage, disabled home and old age home, besides railway tracks and slums like Harijan Basti and many more such locations of the city where people live in adverse situation.

“We invite people to come as volunteers to serve food, spread the message about this activity. We also invite people to sponsor prasadam in different locations on their birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions,” said the release.

The distribution has been going on since last one month, in which the Movement distributes food in 25 localities across Guwahati serving more than 5000 meal. “This initiative has fed many empty stomachs of the city. We request more people to join hands with us for this noble cause and help us expand this mission,” the release added.
