Haryana Based Men Arrested for Duping People by Cloning ATM Cards

Guwahati: Two Haryana based men were arrested by Assam Police on Sunday for posing themselves as bank employees, both of them had allegedly duped people by cloning their ATM cards as well.

Both the accused were arrested from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.

A case has also been registered in the Azara Police Station.

During a search operation by Assam Police, at least 43 blank ATM cards, one laptop, swipe machine, three mobile handsets, and Rs 20,000 cash have been seized from their possession.

Speaking to The Sentinel, OC Ashok Dutta, Azara Police Station, said, "Both of them were technically sound have duped several people in the city by cloning their ATM cards. From our preliminary investigation, we got to know that they managed to collect the 16-digit-number of the ATM cards and then copy the same in their laptop and then process a new ATM card. They also carry a mobile swap machine with them."

Meanwhile, both of them were interrogated and are being kept in the police custody.

It may also be mentioned that the identities of the both accused were confirmed by several victims on Monday at Azara Police Station, informed OC Ashok Dutta.
