GAURISAGAR, June16: The Hatighuli regional unit of the affiliated committee under Sivasagar District Committee of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) organized a special felicitation function at Durlav Chandra Gogoi Jakaichuk HS School auditorium at Charing in Sivasagar distict on Friday to felicitate the meritorious students who successfully passed the HSLC and HS examinations, 2018 from the greater Hartighuli area.

While the meeting was inaugurated by Sivasagar AASU unit adviser Govin Phukan, Hatighuli AASU unit advisers Manash Protim Nath and Bhaskar Nath anchored the programme.

Addressing the function, AASU’s education secretary Sarat Hazarika said that competition in education is seen in every nook and corner of the world. The rapid innovation and development of science and technology has changed life. “Sometimes, we feel that as if we’re going to be machines, not human beings. But despite massive development of science and technology our society is yet to be free from superstitions. As a consequence, we’ve lost two innocent and meritorious students – Abhijit Nath and Nilutpal Das – in Karbi Anglong on June 8. It’s because of misuse the social media, another invention of modern technology,” Hazarika said.

The other dignitaries attended the meeting were Girindra Kumar Gogoi, Principal, Durlav Chandra Gogoi Jakaichuk HS School; Kuladhar Borah, subject teacher, Khanamukh HS School; Padum Kumar Saikia and Rajib Dutta, president and secretary, Gaurisagar Press Club; AASU’s Sivasagar District Committee president Ashim Dutta, secretary in-charge Amulya Gogoi, Subhas Das and Debabrat Das, secretary and organizing Secretary, AASU; Prafulla Gogoi, president, Hatighuli GP; journalists Padma Luchan Khanikar, Nabajyoti Ojah, Mriganka Hazarika and Nayanmoni Baruah.
