HC admits petition against PWD Minister

GUWAHATI, April 13: The Gauhati High Court has admitted a writ petition filed jointly by Khalilur Rahman Laskar and Matiur Rahman Laskar pleading the high court’s intervention in taking actions against the present PWD minister Parimal Suklabaidya and 20 other accused for allegedly violating laws while demolishing the petitioners’ lands and houses at Ganga Nagar Part I at Silchar in Cachar district for construction of a public road. The petitioners have also made a plea before the High Court to issue necessary instruction to pay adequate compensation to them by respondents of the case. Advocate JI Barbhuyan who represented the petitioners in the court, said such demolition completely goes the existing laws as well natural justice. The high court has fixed May 21 as the next date of hearing of the case.
