Three health officials suspended for dereliction of duty

MAJULI, Feb 19: The Health Commissioner and Secretary, Samir  Sinha, along with the Executive Director of NHM, Assam, Dr Ashok Baishya, arrived in Majuli on Saturday evening to take stock of the status of health services and medical infrastructure in the river island district.

Commissioner and Secretary, Health, Samir Sinha has ordered to suspend three health officials under Joint Director of Health Services, Jorhat, for dereliction of duty. The officials facing immediate suspension are District Drug Store Mager, Jorhat, Kalyanmoy Bora, District Data Manger, Jorhat, Arun Phukan and another employee of the health department.

At Garamur, Sinha directed the Executive Director of tiol Health Mission, Assam, Dr. Ashok Baishya to take stern action against these three health departmental officials for their utter negligence and ictiveness in duty related to the health services in Majuli district under the control of the office of the Joint Director, Health Services, Jorhat.

Meanwhile, construction of Aayush Hospital in Majuli will start from April. Sinha directed the Engineering Advisor of NHM, Assam, to make all arrangements for foundation stone-laying ceremony within 45 days in the site selected for the Ayurveda Hospital in Phulani Sriram area in Majuli. They also made inspection visits to Garamur Sub-divisiol Civil Hospital and Jengraimukh Model Hospital under construction. The top official of the State Health department has issued instruction to complete the construction work of the model hospital within March 31.
