Health & hygiene session conducted in Arunachal

Itanagar: On the initiative of Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra, a day-long health & hygiene session was conducted in Govt Primary School, B-Sector here on Wednesday.

In order to improve the health and hygiene status of children in schools, the governor and his wife Neelam Misra had advised the officials of the Governor Secretariat and medical officers of Raj Bhavan dispensary to conduct the sessions with special emphasis on First Aid in the schools as the stepping stone towards ‘Healthy Arunachal’.

To start with, Dr Jennifer Tayeng, Senior Medical Officer, and Dr Gojum Karlo Karbak, Medical Officer of Raj Bhavan Dispensary, conducted the session in the school, where all the students and teachers benefitted.

Dr Tayeng educated the children on First Aid. She highlighted on basics steps in first aid and how to manage cut injury, burns, swelling and bruises, nose bleeding, insect bites, dog bite, snakebites, foreign body in eyes, nose and ear, fainting and heatstroke, choking, seizures, fracture and electrocution.

Dr Karbak educated the students on the importance of personal hygiene and advised ways to maintain a healthy mind and body. She also taught them about hand washing techniques. Senior officers from the Governor Secretariat were also present on the occasion, a press release informed here.
