Hemphu wins silver in World Youth Cup

GUWAHATI, July 6: Hemphu Bongjang of Assam won the first medal for India on the first day of the 11th World Youth Cup Karate Championship held at Umag, Croatia. Hemphu won silver medal in WKF Kids U-12 Male Individual Kata event. He defeated Belarus, Denmark, Croatia and Poland players with 5-0 flags and reached final. In the final he lost to Bosnia players and achievees silver medal in the Championship. He also qualified to participate in the Commonwealth Karate Championship to be held at Durban, South Africa in November.
