Hen-up Ahi Kebi Celebrated in Hamren

Hamren: With a view to keep tradition alive, the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) organized Hen-up Ahi kebi ceremonial fermentation of bamboo shoot. The programme was held at Karbi people’s hall at Taralangso on Friday. The ceremony started with the sacrifice of a foal by Kurusar -Karbi priest Bajong Engleng of Hamren, which was followed by ceremonial eating of betel nut by youths. Singer Seng Timung sang about the origin of preserving bamboo shoot followed by filling up bamboo shoot in a cone-shape bamboo silo mixed with pork.
