Hima Mylliem holds talks with farmers

SHILLONG, Aug 26: After constant complaints from farmers, the Hima Mylliem on Thursday held a meeting with the farmers from Khasi and Jaintia Hills on the constant deduction of Kg by the middlemen at Iewduh market in Shillong.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, C. Kharkongor, Myntri in-charge of Market said, “In this meeting we have taken a decision that from today onwards all vegetables brought in by the farmers in the market which has a weight capacity of 30 kg will be deducted 1kg, 40-60 kg will be deducted 3kg and 60-100 kg will be deducted only 6kg.”

With regards to vegetables being brought into the market through traditiol baskets the meeting has decided to deduct the farming produce as per the weight of the traditiol basket.
