Himanta denies link with Poddar, files Rs 100 cr suit

Guwahati, June 21: Over the last couple of days, an abpnewstv News report linked Assam PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to a self-proclaimed ‘power broker’ Anuj Poddar whose New Delhi premises were raided by Income Tax officials.

Meanwhile, Sarma has tweeted, “I am outraged by a @abpnewstv News report linking me to a person whom I have never met or known in my life. @abpnewstv news report has defamed me in public light. I have filed a Rs 100 cr defamation suit against ABP News before the Civil Judge, Sr division, Kamrup District, Guwahati”.

On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia has written to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal demanding a thorough probe under his personal supervision into the alleged link between the ‘power broker’ and the senior minister.
