Hizbul Mujahideen plans to create panic in Assam: Hojai SP Ankur Jain

NAGAON, Sept 16: Hizbul Mujahideen, the Pakistan-backed terrorist group of Jammu and Kashmir, is planning to expand its activities to various parts of Assam, including Lumding. For such activities, the militant group has already deployed some local youths and also extended financial aid to these local youth, said Hojai Superintendent of Police Ankur Jain at a press conference held in Hojai on Saturday.

He said that soon after the arrest of Kamir Uz Jaman in Uttar Pradesh recently, this startling development came to light. He stated further that on receipt of information from UP Police, Hojai Police within hours apprehended two close associates of Kamir Uz Jaman who had been working for Hizbul Mujahideen over the years and also planned to blast a bomb in Lumding and other places of the district. He hoped that the police would be able to get more information after proper interrogation of the nabbed associates.

He said that Hojai Police apprehended Shahnewaj Alom of Balipar Pathar and Shahidul Alom of Udali in Hojai district. Both suspected cadres of the militant group had been missing for years and with the aid of Kamir Uz Jaman went to Jammu and Kashmir. Along with Jaman, both Shahidul and Shahnewaj stayed in Srinagar and subsequently met various leaders of the Kashmir-based militant group, Jain further said.

On the other hand, UP anti-terrorist commandoes rushed to Hojai recently to investigate further about Kamir Uz Jaman and the activities of the banned organization in Assam.
