NAGAON: Justice NS Deori of Hojai Additional District and Session Court on Wednesday pronounced capital punishment to Moinul Haque, the prime accused in the murder and rape of headmistress Arnamai Bora at Yomunamukh in undivided Nagaon district. The judge also sentenced co-accused Salim Uddin to life imprisonment. The court had convicted both the accused in the case a week ago and delivered the final verdict on Wednesday.

The two culprits had stopped Arnamai Bora on her way back home from school on July 31, 2017. They killed her after raping her. The two accused threw her body into the Kapili River. The incident did spark widespread anger in the entire State. The court, as well as Yomunamukh Police, played a big role in giving justice to the deceased within a year of the gruesome incident.
