Diphu: BJP candidate Horensing Bey on Tuesday told party workers of Diyungbra that out of Rs 5 crore MPLAD fund sanctioned annually by the Central Government, 40 per cent would be utilized for taking up various development schemes in Dima Hasao. Bey was given a warm welcome by BJP members and workers of Dima Hasao on Tuesday, after he filed his nomination to the Returning Officer and DC of Karbi Anglong, Mukul Kumar Saikia in Diphu on Monday.

Participating in an election campaign meeting of the party at Diyunbra under No.6 Diyunbra MAC constituency, Bey said, "Rs 5 crore as MPLAD fund is sanctioned annually to MPs for taking up development schemes in their respective parliamentary constituency and the money will be used in the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi and Dima Hasao. Also, I assure you out of the amount, 40 per cent will be for Dima Hasao."

He also assured that after being elected as MP, he would raise the issue of Autonomous State and full implementation of MoU and MoS with the Central Government.

Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) CEM, Debolal Garlosa said, "Under the present BJP government, Dima Hasao has seen much development. All pending salaries of DHAC employees were cleared. Rs 10 crore was received from the State Government by respective MACs for development of own constituencies."

He expressed confidence that Horensing Bey would win with a huge margin. Dismissing the allegation made by the opposition parties that the BJP was a communal party, Garlosa said, "The BJP party may have Hindu background but the BJP government made no discrimination on religious and community lines. Welfare schemes have been implemented equally for all people. The health schemes, subsidized distribution of LPG to women and housing scheme were given to genuine beneficiaries. No discrimination was made."

Halflong MLA Bir Bhadra Hagjer said Horensing Bey would surely work for the welfare of the hill people and they should support him. He also said that people had been voting for MP Birensing Engti but not a single MP scheme was implemented in Dima Hasao.

Total 504 families joined the BJP on Tuesday. In the evening, Bey participated in the election campaign meeting at Gunjung under Hadingma MAC constituency. Former MLA, Bidyasing Engleng and EMs and MAC of DHAC and BJP leaders of Dima Hasao and West Karbi Anglong were also present.
