How Responsive Is Kamrup (M) District Administration?

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI: How responsive is Kamrup (M) district administration? A reality check can throw much light on this query. The Bypass (NH-37) that runs behind Gauhati University is an all important road. A travel by this Bypass will let one see a few broken electric poles lying on the road divider. The broken poles are of solar electricity. Besides being an eyesore for travelers, the broken poles bear witness to the fact that the electrification work with solar power done in the area has been shoddy. This is not all. The broken electric poles pose a threat to people, especially those traveling by cars. Accidents on the highway are very frequent these days.

It was on May 29 this year when the Jalukbari Kendriya Nagarik Samiti sent a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M) district. The Samiti requested the Deputy Commissioner to remove the broken electric posts from the Bypass as that sends a wrong signal to tourists, besides posing a threat to vehicular traffic. However, the broken electric posts are still lying on the divider on the Bypass. Will the district administration be responsive and do the needful when some genuine public grievances are brought to its notice?
